Architectural Technician – Revit

Architectural Technician or Draftsperson with 3 years NZ experience in residential and commercial architecture

We’re looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Architectural Technician or Draftsperson with a strong track record in producing precise residential and commercial architectural and construction documentation.

Our architectural design and technical team is thriving and expanding, with a portfolio of large-scale residential and commercial projects across varying levels of complexity. To support this growth, we are seeking an ambitious individual with a positive outlook to join our busy head office in Auckland’s Commercial Bay.

We foster a vibrant and diverse studio culture, with a supportive environment that encourages professional growth. While our work spans multiple sectors, our primary focus is on high-end residential projects. We are looking for a reliable, motivated, and determined professional to take on a permanent, full-time position.

What we’re looking for

  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience in New Zealand.
  • Proficiency in Revit, with proven experience using the software and adopting new digital ways of working.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including the New Zealand Building Code, the Building Act, the Resource Management Act, local by-laws, consent procedures, and planning regulations.
  • Solid understanding of New Zealand construction materials, methods, detailing, and practical knowledge of NZS 3604:2011, NZS 4229:2013, and NZBC Acceptable Solutions, with the ability to apply them effectively.
  • Experience preparing and submitting building consent applications to local councils.
  • Confidence in liaising with clients, engineers, builders, and councils.
  • Experience carrying out site measures.
  • Exceptional listening skills, with excellent written and verbal communication, able to engage with clients, consultants, contractors, and councils in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work independently and unsupervised – essential for this role.
  • A positive, patient, well-organised, reliable, and honest individual who takes pride in their work.

What we offer

  • A design-led studio environment.
  • A fun, friendly, and supportive team culture.
  • Exciting career growth opportunities.
  • A vibrant central Auckland office with stunning views.
  • A wide variety of projects, from high-end residential to boutique commercial.
  • Employee benefits programme.

At Nala Studio Architects, we are proud to be an equal opportunities employer. We foster a supportive, inclusive, and collaborative culture, encouraging our team to strive for excellence in everything they do.
