Nala Studio Architects commence the journey to become Homestar Accredited Architects.

At Nala Studio architects, we believe designing passive, sustainable green homes is a critical aspect of modern architecture that goes beyond aesthetics and functionality. As we confront the challenges of climate change and environmental degradation, architects play a pivotal role in shaping the built environment in a way that minimises negative impacts and contributes to a more sustainable future.

Environmental responsibility is at the forefront of designing green homes. By incorporating passive design principles, we can reduce the overall energy consumption of buildings, decreasing their carbon footprint. The use of sustainable materials, energy-efficient technologies, and thoughtful orientation can significantly decrease the demand for non-renewable resources, helping to preserve the delicate ecological balance. Not only that but passive green homes contribute to the well-being of the people that live in them. Natural ventilation, optimal daylighting, and efficient thermal control not only enhance comfort but also promote a healthier indoor environment. Additionally, the economic aspect cannot be overlooked. While initial construction costs for green homes may be slightly higher, the long-term savings in energy bills and maintenance expenses often outweigh the initial investment. Sustainable designs can also increase the property value and marketability of homes, creating a positive economic impact for homeowners and the broader real estate market.

That is why Nala Studio Architects is on the journey to become Green Home Star accredited. The New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC) is the voice of a community dedicated to creating a more sustainable built environment in Aotearoa. They champion both regulatory and industry-wide transformations, deliver impartial and reliable certifications, and actively assist New Zealand on its journey towards a low-carbon future. Here at Nala Studio Architects, we are really excited to be part of this journey.
